this music video might be one of the most influential music videos in history and nobody knows it. I remember being completely blown away by this aesthetic in 2010 when it came out, soon after the Pioneers oh pioneers levi’s “hipster” commercial came out. After that, indie bands started to create content like this, more notably the naked and famous with Young Blood and THEN this style reached the zeitgeist when Rihanna dropped the music video for We found Love, also one of the best pop music videos of all time, Lana del Rey blew up around this time as well with an aesthetic very similar to this, after that we’ve seen watered down versions of this in every format of media, from tumblr to editorial photoshoots to commercials to quick videos for shitty songs, this style of video is still being used today, although it has lost it’s shine and become the “norm”. Revisiting this however, I am taken back to my 20 year old self watching it for the 1st time and it really holds up, it is not nostalgia talking, is just that this particular video is an incredible piece of art. One of the best ever.
